Capture

In April Joan traveled to Compiegne in April 1430 to help defend the Burgundian and English siege. On May 23rd 1430 when her troops attempted to attack a Burgrundian camp. she was captured. She called for a retreat after seeing that her troops were beginning to be out numbered. As 
leader of her troops she saw to it for her to be the last to retreat. Joan was unhorsed by an archer, she refused to surrender and made many attempts to escape. One including a jumping she made from a 60 foot tower where she was being held as a prisoner of war. She was knocked unconscious and was then recaptured.

King Charles VII had a chance at freeing her from prison with a ransom, yet he made no attempts.

She was eventually the English government purchased her from Duke Phillip of Burgundy.
